Mahoba, 03 October (HS). One of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh is the divine court of Maa Chandrika Devi. Where Maa Chandrika Devi Temple is situated near the historical Madan Sagar Sarovar in the form of Tarachandi Siddha Peeth. The sufferings of the devotees go away just by the darshan of Maa Chandrika, who is more than 10 feet high and has 18 arms. Devotees from far away places including entire Bundelkhand reach the court of Maa with their wishes.
Near the historical Madan Sagar Sarovar, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Mother Goddess is present in the form of Tarachandi Siddha Peeth. Over time, she gained fame by the name of Badi Chandrika Devi. The temple and idol of Maa Chandrika Devi was established in 831 AD by Karti Chandra Varman, the then king of Bundelkhand. Where inside the temple there is a more than 10 feet tall statue of Mother Chandrika with 18 arms.
Temple priest Pandit Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay said that on the first day of Shardiya Navratri, a crowd of devotees had been gathering in the temple since morning. Devotees worship the Mother Goddess as per the rituals and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the family. Devotees offered chunri, makeup, prasad etc. to the mother with devotion. Mother Chandrika provides welfare to all her devotees.
According to historians, the Chandela king of Bundelkhand and an ardent devotee of Maa Veer Alha Udal used to enter the battlefield only with the blessings of Maa Chandrika. With the blessings of his mother, he used to defeat his enemies and achieve Vijayashree. Mother Chandrika is considered to be the family deity of Alha Udal. It is believed that even today he comes to worship in the temple. Mother Sharda had given the blessing of immortality to Alha.
