Earlier, Sonam Raghuvanshi’s father refused to withdraw the dowry and cash gifts given at his daughter’s wedding, saying that the donation given to the daughter could not be withdrawn. Earlier, it was being said that King Raghuvanshi’s family had demanded that Sonam’s parents had returned the jewelry given at her wedding. In the presence of senior members of the society and local police, Sonam’s brother Govind Raghuvanshi handed over the jewelry to the king’s elder brother Vipin Raghuvanshi.

According to Govind, Sonam left her parents’ homes while going on honeymoon. She was taken with Mangalasutra only worn by her husband. Under the supervision of Rajendra Nagar police station, the process of returning the jewelry was completed peacefully, in the presence of the signature of both sides and the representatives of the community. Sonam’s father gave a passionate but tough message by refusing to withdraw dowry and cash gifts.
What happened in Shillong on 23 May?
Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi along with his wife Sonam went to Shillong in Meghalaya on 20 May to celebrate a honeymoon. On May 23, the two went missing under mysterious circumstances. On June 2, when the king’s body was found, the missing couple’s case turned into a murder, after which there was speculation that there would have been something untoward with Sonam.
The whole story changed on 8 June when Sonam Raghuvanshi came out from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. According to Shillong police, Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha and three others killed their husband. After the initial investigation, Sonam and her associates were arrested and sent to Shillong Jail. So far, the police has questioned Sonam on remand twice.
