Lucknow, September 25 (HS). Many countries and states are taking concrete steps at their own level to deal with the increasing effects of climate change and the dangers that may occur in the future. The Uttar Pradesh government has started a new initiative, which will not only make the students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School (KGBV) aware of climate change but will also inspire them to incorporate the suggested measures in their behavior.
The aim of this special program, which will run from 28 September to 15 February 2025, is to make the girl students aware about the challenges related to climate change and its solutions. In this program, direct dialogue will be established between experts and girl students, so that the girls not only understand this problem, but can also bring positive changes in their daily lives to solve it.
Under this initiative, UNICEF will organize a series of awareness sessions with Meena Manch and KGBV students and facilitators in collaboration with Meena Manch activities. These sessions will be conducted online. Dr. Anita Bhatnagar Jain (Retd. IAS), one of the program experts, will interact directly with the girls during these sessions.
During the session, the students will be given various tasks, which will be collected through Google Form. The aim of this initiative is to increase awareness among the girls as well as make them practically capable so that they can face climate change and health related issues and strengthen their life skills.
The girl students will be motivated to adopt measures to avoid climate change through various activities. This initiative is an important part of the efforts to spread awareness about environmental protection in the coming generations and develop a sense of sustainable development in their behavior.
This step of the Yogi government can prove to be helpful in spreading awareness not only among girl students but also in wider sections of the society, which will help in reducing the effects of climate change.
