News India Live, Digital Desk: Planting Roses at Home : Rose, which is called the king of flowers, is the pride of everyone’s home and courtyard. Its fragrance and beauty fascinate everyone. Many people bring a rose plant home with fondness, but within a few days either the plant dries up or it stops blooming. If you are also troubled by this problem then don’t panic!

Today we will tell you those easy and tried methods of taking care of the rose plant, by adopting which your plant will also remain healthy and laden with flowers. You just have to keep some basic things in mind.

1. Choosing the right pot and soil

This is often where people make the first mistake. The roots of the rose plant are deep, so it needs space to spread.

  • Flowerpot: Always take a pot at least 12 inches deep and wide. Keep in mind that there should be one or two holes at the bottom of the pot for water to drain out.
  • Soil: Do not use only clay or black soil. to prepare a good soil 50% garden soil, 20% sand, and 30% cow dung or vermi compost (earthworm manure). Mix well. This mixture will also provide necessary nutrition to the plant and will also prevent water accumulation.

2. Correct way of watering

This is the second most common mistake. People either overwater the plant or leave it completely dry. Both situations are harmful for the plant.

  • When to water: The easiest principle of watering is to check the soil. Try putting your finger in the soil up to an inch. Water only if the soil feels dry.
  • How to give water: Always pour water into the roots of the plant, not the leaves and flowers. Pouring water on leaves increases the risk of fungus.

3. ‘Sunlight’ is most important

Rose is considered a ‘sun-loving’ plant. It needs plenty of sunlight to make its food and bloom flowers.

  • Keep your pot in a place where it gets direct sunlight during the day. At least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight meet. A rose plant kept in shade will never flower well.

4. ‘Manure’ at the right time is the tonic.

Just as we need food to stay healthy, similarly a plant needs fertilizer to grow well and give flowers.

  • Home Fertilizer: Soak onion peels in water for 24 hours. The next day, filter this water and pour it into the soil of your plant. This is an excellent and free fertilizer.
  • Organic Manure: Every 15-20 days, lightly mix a handful of cowdung manure or vermicompost into the soil. It will continue to provide nutrition to the plant.

5. Don’t be afraid of ‘pruning’

This is the most important part of rose care. By pruning, the plant becomes denser and new branches grow on it, which bear more flowers.

  • When the flower dries, do not leave it on the plant. Cut it a little from the bottom.
  • Any branches that appear dry, yellow or weak, cut them off immediately.

By adopting these easy methods, your rose plant will not only remain green but will also give so many flowers that your garden will always remain fragrant.
