Ranchi, October 5 (HS). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that efforts are being made to speed up the voting process so that voters do not have to stand in queues for long in the upcoming assembly elections. For this, the voting process of voters has to be completed on the basis of chain system inside the voting compartment.

Ravi Kumar said that for this, all the officials are being trained as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, which will help in expediting the voting process. He said that care has to be taken that no voter is deprived of his franchise. For this, necessary preparations should be made in advance so that voters do not have to unnecessarily stand in queues and wait for their turn. Kumar was addressing the training cum certification program for newly appointed ROs and AROs to be held from October 5 to 9 at Nirvachan Sadan on Saturday.

Kumar said that RO and ARO play an important role in a peaceful, clean and fair election process. Necessary guidelines have been issued by the Central Election Commission on all points related to their duties. Officers should study these guidelines thoroughly and ensure to follow them in their area of ​​duty. He highlighted in detail the election related issues like preparations at polling stations, inspection of arrangements at the centres, timely distribution of voter slips, pre-election preparations done at the level of BLOs etc. Along with this, in his address he discussed in detail the unexpected common mistakes related to elections and the measures to resolve them.

During the five-day training session, national level chief trainers are to give sequential training on election related topics to the officials in different sessions, in which they will be given training on election related topics like eligibility and disqualification of candidates, election symbol allotment, nomination related instructions, criminal antecedents. Point wise training will be given on subjects like e-roll, vulnerability mapping, EVM and VVPAT training, model code of conduct, expenditure management, sweep, polling party management, postal ballot, paid news, MCMC, vote counting etc.

In the training program, state level trainers Geeta Choubey, SN Jamil, Sunil Kumar outlined their respective subjects through audio-visual medium as per the scheduled session.
