East Champaran, 26 July (HS). Despite tight security in the court premises, the police has arrested one of the two prisoners who escaped from the court lockup on Thursday, but the arrested prisoner has revealed the corrupt face of Motihari police. The escaped prisoner had taken 20 thousand rupees from the police engaged in security to provide him a hexa blade to cut the lockup grill. A team has been immediately formed to investigate this entire matter.
It is noteworthy that on Thursday, two prisoners accused of serious crimes, Arun Sahni of Patahi and Arvind Thakur of Adapur, were brought to Motihari Civil Court from Motihari Central Jail for hearing. Where both the prisoners managed to escape by cutting the window of the court lockup with the help of a towel. Although the absconding prisoner Arun Sahni was arrested by the police from the court premises itself after laying siege to the court premises, but the other Arvind Thakur managed to escape.
Incharge SP cum ASP Shikhar Chaudhary said that two prisoners had escaped from the court lockup in the evening, out of which one has been arrested by the police. Raids are being conducted to arrest the other. The police is engaged in action by registering an FIR in the city police station. A case has come up of a police personnel helping the prisoner to escape by taking money. Which is being investigated. Strict action will be taken after the investigation.
