Rajya Sabha elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh on 27 February. This will be a big political conflict before the Lok Sabha elections. For the 10 Rajya Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh, BJP has fielded 8 candidates and Samajwadi Party has fielded 3 candidates. The outcome is bound to have a decisive political impact ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The ruling BJP and the main opposition party were to send 7 and 3 candidates respectively to the Rajya Sabha unopposed. But with BJP fielding Sanjay Seth as the eighth candidate, the election was becoming inevitable. There is every possibility of a fight for one seat. Sanjay Seth is a local businessman and former SP leader. He joined BJP in 2019. Now voting will take place on Tuesday and results will come on Tuesday only.
Meanwhile, Raja Bhaiya has put an end to the speculations that were going on for several days. After SP state president Naresh Patel met him a few days ago, there was speculation as to whom Raja Bhaiya's party would support in the Rajya Sabha elections. But on Monday, Raja Bhaiya made it clear that his party Jansatta Paksha (JDL) will stand with the NDA in the Rajya Sabha elections. Rashtriya Lok Dal's votes are going to NDA. After this, two votes of JDL also have to go to NDA. In such a situation, NDA's position regarding the eighth candidate of BJP has become stronger.
