Beijing: The film’s producer and director Chen Pinlin was sentenced to more than 3 years for making a film showing the brutality of the Xi Jinping government on the Corona lockdown. For this he was sent to jail twice.

In fact, during the Corona lockdown in China, the Xi Jinping government had imprisoned people in their homes. People were kept at home for two years. Only occasionally were they allowed to go out for short periods of time. Meanwhile, many people’s businesses were closed and people were on the verge of dying of hunger.

In November 2022, people took to the streets against China’s zero-sum policy and demanded the resignation of President Xi Jinping.

At that time, Li Qiang, who reached the number two position in the Politburo Standing Committee of the ruling Communist Party, played an important role in suppressing the opposition.

They put the protesters in jail one after another and beat its leaders badly. In addition, Chen Pinlin also made a short documentary. He was taken into police custody for the first time on 29 November 2023. Then on January 5, 2024, Shanghai Police officially arrested him for making that film.

China’s secret human rights organization Weiquan Wang said on Tuesday that Chen Pinlin was tortured in prison for more than a year. And after a closed court hearing for 3 hours, the punishment was announced.

Pinlin also released a documentary in English titled Not-The-Foreign Course on YouTube and X. However, this film is currently banned in China. The documentary features footage of the original protests against the Chinese government’s strict lockdown orders.
