Other events were postponed after the plane disappeared
According to officials, the plane took off at 9 am (local time). Apart from 51-year-old Chilima, there were nine more people on board the plane. Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered regional and national forces to launch a search and rescue operation to locate the plane. President Chakwera was to fly to the Bahamas but has postponed the program after the Vice President's plane went missing. In the year 2022, Salos Chilima was stripped of all powers. He was arrested in a bribery case. However, just last month, Malawi's ER Court dismissed all charges against him.
