Now the Yunus government has decided to remove the picture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the ‘Father of the Nation’ of Bangladesh and one of the founding members of the country, from the currency notes.

Whose picture will be on the new currency notes?

The Dhaka Tribune reported that Bangladesh’s central bank has started printing new notes bearing features of the July Uprising. Which was part of the anti-reservation movement of students against the Sheikh Hasina-led government. Religious structures, Bengali traditions and “graffiti” created during Lai’s protests will be included in the new notes.

Printing of new currency notes started

As per the instructions of the Mohammad Yunus-led interim government, the central bank has started printing 20, 100, 500 and 1000 taka (Bangladeshi rupee) notes. Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director Husnera Shikha said considerable progress has been made in the printing process. He said that I hope that new notes can come in the market in the next six months.

At present the design of only four notes has been changed.

Central Bank and Finance Ministry officials said that initially the design of only four notes is being changed. He said all types of currency notes without the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would be redesigned in a phased manner. The Finance Ministry submitted a detailed design proposal for the new note to Bangladesh Bank on 29 September.
