The party which was once the main opposition party of the country, its existence is in danger, see how many votes and seats it got

Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: It is now becoming difficult for the Communist Party, which was once the main opposition in the country, to save its existence. Due to the decreasing number of seats, the Communist Party is also becoming irrelevant in politics. Despite being in alliance, the four leftists managed to win only eight seats in this election. Their performance has been poor even in their traditional strongholds of Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura.

The Communist Party has been the main opposition party in three elections after independence. In subsequent elections too, it has sometimes been the third and sometimes the fourth largest political party. However, in the meantime, the Communist Party split and a new party was also formed. This trend continued till 2024. After that, when the Left government was wiped out in West Bengal, their representation among MPs also decreased.

Big shock in Kerala

Kerala still has a CPI(M)-led Left government but still the CPI(M) won only one seat there. In the last election too, they had won only one seat. However, the CPI(M) vote percentage there was 25.82. However, Bhakti got 6.14% votes. Despite getting 32% of the total votes, the Left won only one seat. West Bengal and Tripura did not get any seats. The Left got 6 per cent votes in West Bengal and about 12 per cent in Tripura.

In Tamil Nadu, the CPI(M) and the CPI(M) contested the elections in alliance with the All India Alliance and won two seats each. It managed to win one seat in Rajasthan. While in Bihar, the CPI managed to win two seats in alliance. Thus, the Left has got a total of eight seats, which is two seats more than the last Lok Sabha election. But this is pale in comparison to the kind of performance the opposition has shown this time.

The Left performed brilliantly in 2004

In the 2004 elections, the leftists performed well and became a part of the UPA. At that time, the CPI (M) emerged as the third largest party in the country after the Congress and the BJP. The CPI (M) won 43 seats, the CPI (M) won 10, and the RSP and the Forward Block won three seats each.

The Left is suffering losses due to the rise of BJP in Kerala in alliance with Congress. In Kerala, BJP is attracting Hindu votes towards itself. In West Bengal, the leftist votes are shifting towards BJP and TMC. Almost the same situation is in Tripura as well.
