Jagdalpur, September 18 (HS). Collector of Bastar district Harish S. today on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for the historic princely era Bastar Dussehra festival and directed the officials to ensure all the arrangements before time. During this, he visited the Dev Sarai in the premises of Laxminarayan temple and Sheetla Mata temple, including Kachhanguri, Jiya Dera, Dashra-Pasara, the places of worship related to the various rituals of Bastar Dussehra festival.

The collector asked to expand the construction of toilets and bathrooms for the deities staying in Dev Sarai of Laxminarayan temple complex along with the sevadars and gayta-priests and asked to construct five toilets and three bathrooms. He also instructed to make proper arrangements for water. He also asked to complete the work of laying paver blocks in front of Dev Sarai of Sheetla Mata temple complex by the weekend. He also observed the Dashara-Pasara renovation work and instructed to complete all the works by the weekend. It is worth noting that the old tehsil office is being developed as Dashara-Pasara to provide necessary facilities for the stay of traditional Manjhi-Chalaki coming to participate in the historic Bastar Dussehra festival. Where the construction work of replica of the chariot running in Bastar Dussehra festival, open theater, museum, art gallery, cafeteria etc. is in progress. During his visit, the collector also visited Dalpat Sagar Island and Bastar Art Gallery for organizing various activities under The Bastar Madai and gave necessary guidelines to the officers. During this, CEO District Panchayat Prakash Surve, Additional Collector CP Baghel, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Harish Mandavi and other officers were present.
