The country's defense power is being continuously strengthened. Also, the Defense Ministry is now focusing on promoting self-reliance in the defense sector. In this episode, a contract has been signed with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to buy 240 AL-31 FP aero engines for Sukhoi-30 aircraft, which will cost Rs 26 thousand crore. Senior officials of the Defense Ministry and HAL signed the agreement on Monday, where Defense Secretary Girdhar Aramane and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary were present.
According to the report, this aero engine will be manufactured at HAL's Koraput division. It is expected to meet the requirements of the Air Force to maintain the operational capability of the Sukhoi-30 aircraft fleet. As per the contract, HAL will supply 30 aero-engines per year. In this way, the supply of all 240 engines will be completed in the next 8 years. In such a situation, there is no doubt that this deal is going to give a new edge to the country's defense power.
