The mutual fund sector saw a significant increase of 22 percent in the number of folios in March

Ahmedabad: In FY2024, the mutual fund industry is expected to have assets under management (AUM) of Rs. Crossed the figure of Rs 50 lakh crore. Net AUM of the industry increased by 35.5 percent to Rs. 53.4 lakh crore.

The total number of folios in the mutual fund industry has almost doubled compared to five years ago due to increasing interest and awareness among retail investors. In March 2020 it was Rs 8.97 lakh crore. Retail investors are now more aware of bonds than ever before and are investing in them through the mutual fund route.

By December 2023, the share of retail investors in the mutual industry's portfolio of Rs 15.06 lakh crore was 91.3 percent of the total portfolio of Rs 16.49 lakh crore.
