Varanasi, May 28 (HS). Administrative preparations for the seventh and final phase of voting (01 June) of the Lok Sabha elections are in the final stages. On Tuesday, a meeting was held regarding EVM movement for voting under the chairmanship of District Election Officer S Rajlingam. In the meeting, the District Magistrate gave information to the candidates and their representatives about taking out EVMs from the strong room and taking them to the respective booths for voting, and keeping the EVMs after voting.
He also expected the candidates to be present during the EVM shifting after taking their consent on all points. He asked all the candidates to send their polling agents to the booths for the mock poll at 5:30 am on the day of polling so that the polling starts on time. The District Magistrate said that the movement of all EVMs will be in vehicles fitted with GPS in the presence of adequate security forces. Three layers of security have been put in place in the strong room. Everything is under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. The District Magistrate said that if there is any kind of doubt or suspicion regarding EVMs, then they can immediately contact him or the concerned officer and resolve it. Along with this, the District Magistrate asked the candidates to appoint agents for monitoring the EVMs kept in the strong room after polling and for counting and to provide their list.
