New Delhi: There's a new twist in the heart-wrenching story of a 10-year-old boy from Delhi's Tilak Nagar who has won the hearts of the entire nation by driving a food cart to support his family. Now his mother Simran Kaur has come forward and presented her side.
Denying previous allegations of abandoning her child Jaspreet and her sister after her father's death, Kaur has said that these allegations are nothing more than a conspiracy hatched by her in-laws.
Remember Jaspreet, the viral egg roll boy from Tilak Nagar, whose mother allegedly abandoned him and his sister after his father's death. Now mother Simran Kaur shares her version of the story:
In a video that surfaced on social media, she questioned the seriousness of her in-laws' concern for the children and asked why Jaspreet had to work on the car if they were really concerned.
Asserting her parental rights, Kaur has said that she will file a police complaint if her children are not returned to her custody. With this new revelation, there has been another twist in the already complicated situation regarding Jaspreet's family.
After Jaspreet's story went viral, there was a wave of support and generosity towards him. Celebrities like Sonu Sood, Arjun Kapoor and industrialist Anand Mahindra have come forward to offer support. From sponsorship for education to offering to set up a restaurant for Jaspreet, the support has been tremendous.
Anand Mahindra has promised to sponsor the education of Jaspreet and his sister, while BJP leader Rajiv Babbar has offered to support the education of Jaspreet's cousin. Actor Arjun Kapoor has also come forward to sponsor Jasprit's education, showing widespread solidarity for the young boy's future.
With the help of his cousin Gurmukh, he will continue to manage the food cart, although his ambitions extend far beyond that. Due to increased attention and patronage from well-wishers, his daily earnings have increased from Rs 400 to around Rs 8,000 per day.
