7 crore year old dinosaur egg: Argentina’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET) is playing a key role in many of this year’s exciting scientific discoveries. A few months ago, he launched a submarine expedition based on the creatures present in the depths of the sea which instantly went viral with millions of people watching it live. Now, they have made a discovery that could change our understanding of dinosaurs. Paleontologists at CONICET have discovered a dinosaur egg that is approximately 70 million years old and has been found in almost perfectly preserved state.

These dinosaur eggs were discovered by Dr. Federico Agnolin, head of the Argentine Natural Sciences Museum team. The discovery was made in the Rio Negro province, which is located in the southern part of Patagonia. Although dinosaur eggs have been found in Argentina before, none have been found in as beautiful and preserved a condition as this fossil.

Researchers believe that these eggs may contain remains of embryos. If this proves to be true, this discovery will prove to be an important milestone in the field of paleontology. This could help scientists understand how dinosaurs evolved and matured. Apart from this, these eggs can also reveal new information related to their origin.

Upon closer inspection, scientists discovered that it was a fossilized egg that belonged to a small carnivorous dinosaur called Bonaparteniscus, which lived in southern Argentina millions of years ago. This discovery is also surprising because the eggs of carnivorous dinosaurs are usually very delicate and due to their thin outer layer, it is very rare to find such eggs in fossil form.

The egg was found surrounded by the fossilized remains of ancient reptiles and mammals, leading the team of scientists to call the site the ‘nursery of prehistoric animals’. It is believed that the site may also provide information about how dinosaurs cared for their young and other aspects of their behavior.

Speaking to the Spanish news agency El Pais, Dr Agnolin said, “The rest of the eggs are very broken because erosion has destroyed many of them. It may be that some eggs are still intact, but buried inside the rock. In the case of this egg, what happened was that it came out, passed through fine sand and stopped here and that is why it did not break. It is nothing short of a miracle. If it had been raining at that time or something else had happened, It was destroyed. It looked like someone had put it there on purpose. I couldn’t believe it was just lying there.”

The researchers also said they are considering investigating the egg further through a live broadcast so the general public can see what’s inside and get excited or disappointed about it. Next, the egg will be handed over to a museum in Patagonia so that locals can keep a close eye on this historically important fossil.
