In the name of friendship, Hindus have been bitten by people for centuries and now they are being bitten by global forces. In the name of friendship, our own so-called seculars, along with Muslims and Christians, looted Hindus, while countries like Pakistan, China and America have repeatedly stabbed Hindus in the back. Therefore, Hindus will have to understand the virtues of friendship, otherwise they will always be trapped in the web.
What is the meaning of Cultural Marxism, Western world and Global forces regarding friendship? You will find that in the name of friendship they adopted the policy of divide and rule and looted their own people and then fought among themselves in two world wars. Mostly exploitation, deception, fraud, breach of trust and conversion are the ideals of their friendship. Now from 2011, the initiative of celebrating International Friendship Day on 30th July has started and it is going to be celebrated in India on 4th August. I have no interest in this but so that India does not get caught in their clutches again, it becomes necessary to discuss friendship. The two great ideals of friendship are Lord Shri Ram and Lord Krishna in human form respectively. Both have set great ideals of friendship, which are guiding and exemplary.
But it is very important to identify a true and a crooked friend. In Shri Ramcharitmanas, Goswami Tulsidas ji has highlighted the qualities of a good friend. Lord Shri Ram, while explaining the qualities of a good friend to monkey king Sugreev, has said that:-
” Those friends who do not feel sad when they are sad.
Looking at them, it is a heavy sin.
Consider my own sorrow as dust on the mountain. Consider my friend's sorrow as dust on Mount Meru.
Meaning: It is a great sin to even look at those who do not feel sad at the pain of their friends. He who considers his own mountainous pain as small as a speck of dust and his friend's insignificant pain as big as Mount Sumeru is a true friend.
“Those who did not get such wisdom easily.
That foolish person is being stubborn, friend.
To prevent wrongdoing, a good sect should be implemented.
The guna pragatai avagunanhi durawa.”
Meaning: People who are dull-witted and foolish by nature should never go ahead and make friends with anyone. To be a good friend, it is also necessary to be an intelligent and prudent person. This means that the duty of a true friend is to stop his friend from doing inappropriate and immoral acts, as well as inspire him to follow the right path. He should reveal his good qualities and hide his demerits.
“There is no doubt in my mind while giving and taking.
Estimation of strength is always beneficial.
In times of trouble, have true love.
Shruti says this is the virtue of a saintly friend.
Meaning: A person may have unlimited wealth but if he does not help his friend in times of need, then everything is useless. Therefore, one should help his friend in bad times according to his ability. The mark of a good and true friend is that he is always ready to help his friend in times of sorrow and adversity. It has also been said in the Vedas and scriptures that only the one who shows more affection in times of adversity is a true friend.
“I said this in soft words.
Later, the evil mind was beaten with anger.
Go and keep your mind at the same speed, brother. It is good for my friend to stay away.
Meaning: That friend who speaks sweet artificial words in front of you and does bad things in front of you, whose mind is as twisted as the movement of a snake, that is, who has crooked thoughts and ill will towards you, O brother! It is better to abandon such a bad friend.
I pray to God that our friendship remains intact.
Epilogue :
From the beautiful composition of Maithilisharan Gupt –
“The one who soothes the burning heart with sweet affection is a true friend.”
Soak up the dry mind,
The one who gives you a bath is your true friend.
Dear separation, to the troubled mind,
The one who consoles you is your true friend.
A glimpse of a teardrop,
The one who shakes you is your true friend.
