Consider my own sorrow as dust on the mountain. Consider my friend's sorrow as dust on Mount Meru.
Meaning: It is a great sin to even look at those who do not feel sad at the pain of their friends. He who considers his own mountainous pain as small as a speck of dust and his friend's insignificant pain as big as Mount Sumeru is a true friend.
“Those who did not get such wisdom easily.
That foolish person is being stubborn, friend.
To prevent wrongdoing, a good sect should be implemented.
The guna pragatai avagunanhi durawa.”
Meaning: People who are dull-witted and foolish by nature should never go ahead and make friends with anyone. To be a good friend, it is also necessary to be an intelligent and prudent person. This means that the duty of a true friend is to stop his friend from doing inappropriate and immoral acts, as well as inspire him to follow the right path. He should reveal his good qualities and hide his demerits.

Meaning: A person may have unlimited wealth but if he does not help his friend in times of need, then everything is useless. It has also been said in the Vedas and scriptures that only the one who shows more affection in times of adversity is a true friend.
