The Superintendent of Police said that on July 19, while returning to their village in a van from Shikhar Shishu Sadan School in Dhampur,
At 2:30 in the afternoon, 11-year-old Shashank was kidnapped. His family members searched for him. During interrogation, other school children who had accompanied him said that all of them had got down together in front of the village's grocery shop. Upon searching, Shashank's shoe was found lying in the street, after which his family members, suspecting some kind of mishap, informed the police. The police registered a case and started investigation. CCTV cameras installed in the area were checked, in which a school child was seen in a vehicle in a CCTV camera. The SP deployed police teams including surveillance.
During the investigation, after getting many important information, the police recovered the kidnapped child from Ghaziabad. During this, Ghaziabad resident Arjun, who was involved in the kidnapping, was arrested.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that the mastermind behind this case is Shashank's cousin Gaurav, who along with his three friends kidnapped Shashank from the village for money. He has studied up to BCA. Gaurav was also studying with him. Gaurav told that he has mortgaged his land but has not got a job.
For this reason Gaurav along with Surya Pratap alias Suraj Nirala, Bali Singh and me planned to kidnap cousin Shashank. After kidnapping Suraj Nirala left on the way. We three were going to Ghaziabad with Shashank. I was making Shashank urinate on the roadside in the jungle of village Dujana when the police caught me. My two companions Balli and Gaurav who were sitting in the car fled from the spot. I called Shashank's father Ashutosh through Facebook, but did not get any response. My phone was in the car which my companions have taken.
The accused said that Shashank was kidnapped for ransom and Gaurav had asked him to give one lakh rupees. The police is searching for the remaining accused. The family heaved a sigh of relief after the child Shashank returned safely and thanked the police.
