The issue of opium cultivation raised in the Assembly, Speaker asked for information about closed contracts

Chandigarh: Today during the session of Punjab Assembly the issue of poppy cultivation in Punjab was raised. This issue was raised by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra.

Meanwhile, when the MLA asked about opium cultivation, the speaker started laughing saying 'Wah-Bai-Wah, what a thing'. Meanwhile, all the MLAs and ministers also started laughing.

The MLA has demanded opening of opium vendors in Punjab. The MLA has said that synthetic drugs are killing the youth of Punjab. Therefore, synthetic drugs can be prevented through traditional medicines. Let us tell you that many leaders have demanded this from time to time.

The Agriculture Minister has also given clarification on this issue. The Agriculture Minister has said that at present there is no intention to cultivate poppy. The government is not considering this yet.

During this, the speaker asked that there were opium contracts in Punjab earlier too, why were they closed? The speaker asked Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudia to give information in this regard.
