Hindu organizations and local people demonstrated in Sanjauli over this. The protesting Hindu organizations recited Hanuman Chalisa in front of the mosque and demanded the administration to demolish it, calling the construction illegal. The administration said that the land of the mosque under construction belonged to Waqf but said that three floors of the building were built illegally.
The district administration advised the protesters to maintain restraint and assured them of appropriate action after a thorough investigation.
On Sunday, Hindu organizations and local people protested calling the mosque under construction in Sanjauli illegal. A large number of workers of Hindu organizations reached outside the mosque in Sanjauli market and recited Hanuman Chalisa there. Congress councilor Narendra Thakur also participated in this protest.
The protesters said that the number of people from a particular community coming from outside states to Shimla is constantly increasing and they are intimidating the Hindu community. The protesters also demanded police verification of people from outside states who set up hawkers in the city.

The protesters said that two days ago, people of a particular community in Shimla's suburb Malyana beat up a local businessman badly. The victim has got several stitches on his head. They say that people of a particular community coming from outside states are spoiling the atmosphere of the city. Local people are scared of this. The DC and SP assured the protesters of appropriate action in the entire matter. He said that all aspects related to the matter will be investigated so that there is complete harmony in the society. He said that the matter of mosque construction is pending in the Municipal Corporation Court.
DC and SP advised the protesters to maintain restraint and said that the matter is related to religious sentiments and in such a situation, appropriate action will be taken after a thorough investigation. SP Sanjeev Gandhi said that the entire matter will be resolved as per the established procedures and all their issues will be resolved positively. He said that the entire matter will be resolved in a timely manner by meeting with the Municipal Corporation councilors. He said that migrants coming from outside states to work in Shimla are registered and the police is fully alert about this. He said that strict action will be taken against the culprits of the attack on the Hindu youth in Malyana. He said that the responsibility of investigating this incident has been handed over to the police officer.
The senior officer of the Municipal Corporation present on the spot also admitted that the mosque has been built on the land of the Waqf Board, but three floors of the building are being constructed illegally. The next decision will be taken after investigation.
