American media had claimed in its report last year that a conspiracy was hatched to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in America, but it was foiled. After this America also raised this matter against India. After this, US prosecutors accused Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta of alleged conspiracy to murder Pannu. Nikhil Gupta was arrested in the Republic of Kutch and extradited to the US on June 14.
India rejected these allegations. After this India formed an internal inquiry committee. Then in July this year, the Home Ministry extended Pannu's ban on Sikhs for Justice for the next five years.
