The Indian Air Force played a big role in the Lok Sabha elections by flying 1,750 consignments | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

During the seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections-2024, Indian Air Force cargo aircraft and helicopters provided around 1,750 shipments and greatly assisted the Election Commission of India in election planning. 1,000 hours were flown by the Indian Air Force during the 1,750 shipments. Out of the seven phases of elections, the services of the Air Force were taken in five phases of the election process.

A Defence Ministry spokesperson said that during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, helicopters like MI-17, Chetak and light helicopters like Dhruv of the Indian Air Force provided services to the Election Commission in the last few months. As in previous elections, the Indian Air Force played a major role in airlifting EVMs as well as transporting and bringing back officials on election duty in the hinterlands. The Election Commission helped in gaining access in areas where travelling by road is dangerous. There was a deadline task. Two days before the polling day, the election officer on duty had to reach the hinterlands with the election material. And it was also necessary to bring it back from the polling station on time. The Indian Air Force played a major role in implementing such a deadline. This task was completed in coordination with the Chief Electoral Officer of various states.
