New Delhi, 08 August (HS). Maharashtra's sacked trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar has approached the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail. Justice Subramaniam Prasad's bench will hear the anticipatory bail plea tomorrow i.e. on 9 August.
Pooja Khedkar has challenged the Patiala House Court's order rejecting her anticipatory bail plea in the High Court. On August 01, the Patiala House Court rejected Pooja Khedkar's anticipatory bail plea. Additional Sessions Judge Devendra Kumar Jangla ordered the rejection of the anticipatory bail plea. During the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea in the Patiala House Court, advocate Bina Madhavan, appearing for Pooja Khedkar, had said that a complaint in this case has been made by UPSC in which allegations of forgery and fraud have been made. She had said that there is a danger of Pooja being arrested. Madhavan had said that Pooja Khedkar is a probationary officer. Due to which, according to the rules, she has some rights.
Madhavan had read the complaint of UPSC, which said that Khedkar had changed her name and obtained more attempts than the prescribed limit in the UPSC examination. UPSC says that they received many complaints against Pooja but Pooja has not hidden any information. As far as more attempts are concerned, she mistakenly gave the wrong number. Madhavan, while presenting Pooja Khedkar's disability certificate in front of the court, had told that this certificate has been made by eight doctors, which is the board of AIIMS. Madhavan had said that Pooja Khedkar's parents are divorced. She is a Divyang and she has been made disabled by the same system whose job was to protect her. He had raised the question that why all this is being done against her, because she is a woman. Because she is Divyang.
In fact, a few days ago, many allegations were leveled against 2023 batch trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar like misuse of power and taking advantage of reservation through fake certificate. After these allegations, the central government had constituted a one-member panel to investigate all the allegations against Pooja Khedkar. The one-member panel submitted its investigation report to the Department of Personnel and Training on July 27. Pooja Khedkar is accused of submitting a fake certificate claiming herself to be of OBC category before appearing in the UPSC examination. Pooja Khedkar is accused of being recruited under the Nomadic Tribe-3 category to take advantage of caste reservation, which is reserved only for the Banjari community. Pooja Khedkar is also accused of applying for a fake disability certificate.
Pooja Khedkar was embroiled in controversy for making illegal demands during probation. Collector Suhas Divase had filed a complaint against Khedkar. After the controversy escalated, the Maharashtra government took action against Pooja Khedkar and stopped her training and Pooja Khedkar was removed from field posting and ordered to report to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. But she did not reach LBSNAA on time. On July 18, the police arrested Pooja Khedkar's mother. A video of Pooja Khedkar's mother went viral on social media, in which she was seen threatening some farmers in Mulshi with a pistol to grab their land. The police have registered an FIR in this case.
Let us tell you that Pooja Khedkar has also been dismissed by UPSC. Pooja Khedkar had challenged the dismissal in the High Court and said that she was informed about it through a press release. After that, UPSC had asked to send a copy of the order of dismissal of Pooja Khedkar to her via email and to her address.
