Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana High Court, taking cognizance of the news of girls dropping out of education due to absence of schools for classes 10th and 12th on the Patiala-Rajpura Highway, has expressed concern over the government and ordered to submit an education policy. After the news was published in a newspaper, the High Court took cognizance of the matter.

According to the report, the distance between home and school has become a hindrance for girls who want to pursue higher education. In such a situation, girls have to leave studies after eighth or tenth class. Many girls from about 10 villages located on the Patiala-Rajpura border have blamed unsafe travel conditions and lack of affordable transportation for dropping out of education.

Many girls from Khandoli, Bhak, Jakhran, Ghazipur, Khanpur Gandia, Badhauli Gujjar, Dhenda and other villages of Patiala are leaving education. The main reasons for this are the lack of senior secondary schools nearby and lack of affordable transportation network.
