The health of OBC leaders who were on hunger strike for 7 days deteriorated

Mumbai: The health of two agitators, who were on a hunger strike demanding reservation for the Maratha community and assurance that there would be no reduction in OBC reservation, has deteriorated. Doctors say that on the seventh day of the hunger strike, the health of Laxman Hek and Navnath Waghmare has deteriorated.

Both the agitators accepted the request of their other colleagues and drank water but said that they will continue the fast movement. Hek and Waghmare have been on hunger strike in Vadigrodri village of Jalna district since June 13. Government doctor Anil Waghmare said that the blood pressure of both has increased and blood sugar level has also decreased. Both need to be admitted to the hospital so that their health does not deteriorate further. The doctors said this firmly.

Kunbis are recognised as blood relatives of the members of the Maratha community. OBC agitators are demanding the cancellation of the draft notification of the Maharashtra government.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Haque said that no government representative has come to meet him. Thackeray rejected Maratha activist Manoj Jarange's allegations that the government had forced him to go on a hunger strike. Haque said that if our movement had the support of the government, government officials would have shown concern and come to meet us. He said that Jarange does not understand the law and the reservation system. He criticized that Jarange does not understand the complexities of the reservation system.

Heck invited the Jarange representatives to hold an in-depth public discussion on the reservation issue.
