Purnia, 04 July (HS). The havoc of Parman river continues. The houses of dozens of families of Bangawan village have been submerged in the river.

The havoc of Parman river continues in Amaur block area. Due to the havoc of Parwan river, the houses of dozens of families of Bungama ward number 9 of Barbatta Panchayat got submerged in the river. The houses of dozens of families are on the verge of getting submerged in the river. The erosion affected families told that last year also the houses of dozens of families got submerged in the river due to the havoc of Parman river.

This time too, houses of one and a half dozen families have been submerged in the river. Houses of dozens of families are on the verge of erosion. But there is a lot of anger among the villagers as no anti-erosion work has been carried out at the administrative level so far.

The erosion affected families said that the people of Bangawa have been facing the fury of the Parman river for many years. But till now no one has come to inquire about the affected families. Every year during the floods, it has become a compulsion for the people of Bangawa to face the fury of the Parman river. At other places, anti-erosion work was done at the government level to save the village, but years have passed and anti-erosion work has not been done to save Bangawa village till now, it seems that the people of Bangawa village are being discriminated against at the government level.

The erosion affected people have demanded from the DM to get anti-erosion work done in the village and provide relief and compensation to the affected families. The affected families include Farhana Bibi, Asgari Begum, Mohammad Mohib, Afshana, Nazia Parveen, Mukhtar and Mohammad Razik, among others. Congress District Secretary Mohammad Toofan, while informing the MP about the erosion, demanded a permanent solution to the erosion along with providing government relief and compensation to the erosion affected families. District Council Member Shahabuzzama Bhartiya alias Laddu has demanded from the District Officer to get anti-erosion work done in Bangama ward no. 9 and provide disaster relief material to the affected families.
