Farmer Loan Waiver: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced agricultural loan waiver of up to Rs 1 lakh. Telangana CMO said that banks have been directed to repay the loans taken by farmers by July 18, 2024. The government said that strict action will be taken against bankers if they deposit the amount announced by the government for loan waiver in other accounts.

Earlier, a notification had come regarding loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh

Telangana government ministers, MLAs and MLCs on Tuesday (July 16, 2024) attended an event with farmers benefiting from the loan waiver. Earlier, the Telangana government had directed to waive crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh.

According to the guidelines issued by the state government, it was said that agricultural loans given on or after December 12, 2018, which were to be repaid by December 9, 2023, would be waived off. The process will begin from Thursday (July 18, 2024) and will be completed by August 15.

The government said that the database of PDS cards of the Civil Supplies Department will be used to identify farmer families. A family will include its head, his spouse, children and others. According to the guidelines, a nodal officer should be appointed in each bank to implement the loan waiver scheme. The nodal officer will coordinate between the state agriculture director and the NIC.

Gujarat government will train farmers as drone pilots

Kaushalya Skill University has been established with the aim of 'education with skills' to provide employment through 'skill smart' studies, focusing on the skills of the youth of the state. Realizing the vision of 'Skill India' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the guidance of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, planned activities are underway to provide skill training to citizens in the state as per the demand of the time. In this direction, in the near future, a plan has been made to train drone pilots to farmers and farmer sons in Gujarat at a nominal rate. In which drone pilot training will be provided at the rate of ₹ 1200.
