The central government runs many schemes for the citizens of the country. Different plans cater to the needs of different people, including specific groups such as children, elderly, women and even girls. Like the Central Government, State Governments also introduce schemes for the welfare of their citizens from time to time. One such scheme has been started by the Madhya Pradesh government, in which ₹ 100000 is provided by the government on the birth of a girl child. Government will give one lakh rupees:
'Laadli Laxmi Yojana' was launched in 2017 and was launched by the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The objective of this scheme was to eliminate discrimination against daughters in the state and to empower them economically for their education and future. Under this scheme, the government purchases National Savings Certificate after the birth of a girl child. A sum of ₹6,000 is deposited every year for the next five years from the date of registration of the daughter's birth.
By the end of five years, ₹30,000 is deposited in the daughter's name, which can be withdrawn when the daughter reaches sixth grade. ₹2,000 is given at that time. ₹4,000 is provided during admission in class 9th and ₹7,500 is provided during admission in class 11th. When the daughter turns 21 the government provides ₹100000. Overall, girls get more than one lakh rupees from the government.
Who can benefit from this scheme?
Only those girls whose parents are natives of Madhya Pradesh can avail the benefit of this scheme. This amount can be availed only by those girls who are not married before the age of 18 years. Moreover, if a girl leaves her studies midway, she will not be eligible for benefits under this scheme.
