Murder in seal: A girl was murdered with a sword on the road in Mohali on Saturday morning. The incident took place near Phase 5 of Mohali. The girl had left home to go to work. On the way, a masked youth attacked her with a sword. When the girl fell unconscious, the youth fled from the spot.
After this, the people nearby informed the police about the incident. The girl was immediately taken to Phase-6 hospital. She died during treatment there. The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera. The deceased has been identified as Baljinder Kaur (31), a resident of Fatehpur Jat village in Fatehgarh Sahib. She was working in the call center of a private bank for the last 9 years.
SP City Harvir Singh Atwal said that the accused youth has been arrested. He has been identified as Sukhchain Singh, resident of Samrala, Ludhiana. He has been a Kabaddi player. He works at a petrol pump. Sukhchain and Baljinder have known each other for the last four-five years. Sukhchain wanted to marry the girl but she was repeatedly refusing Sukhchain. Due to this resentment, Sukhchain attacked her.
According to the incident captured in the CCTV camera, 5 girls were coming from Morinda towards Phase 5. The masked youth was hiding in the shade of a tree. As soon as the girls reached near the tree, the youth took out his sword. After this he attacked Baljinder Kaur. Seeing this, the other girls started running away from there. Baljinder also tried to run away but the youth kept attacking her.
Seeing the youth attacking, the man riding the scooter stops but seeing the sword in the youth's hand, he too is unable to help the girl. After this, the girl fell unconscious on the ground. Even then the youth continued to attack her mercilessly. Meanwhile, a policeman also tried to save the girl but the accused attacked him too. After this, the youth walked towards the road.
The youth who committed the murder used to work at a petrol pump. According to his colleagues, he worked for 3 months. He left the job after getting his salary last month. He was a Kabaddi player. According to the villagers, the murder accused has 2 brothers and 4 sisters. One brother and 4 sisters are married. His father has retired from school. No one has ever heard of his fighting in the village.
The villagers also claimed that the girl had come to their house twice. At first she was ready for marriage but later refused. The family of the deceased has demanded the hanging of the murderer. His cousin Sharanpreet Singh said that Baljinder's family consists of parents, younger sister and brother.
She was the sole breadwinner. Some time ago, she had helped send her younger brother to Italy. Baljinder's father is a heart patient, his treatment also depended on Baljinder's salary.
