Haridwar, August 2 (HS). After the successful completion of the Kavad Mela, a target of 24 hours has been set to clean the entire Mela area. For this, about 1,750 sanitation workers have been deployed on the campaign.

More than 4 crore 14 lakh devotees came to Haridwar to collect water during the 12-day long Kavad fair. Due to this, Haridwar city and the Ganga ghats are filled with garbage. Municipal Commissioner IAS Varun Chaudhary has set a target of 24 hours for cleaning the entire area.

The cleaning campaign has been started under the guidance of Municipal Corporation's Health Officer Dr. Tarun Mishra. The health officer said that even during the fair, cleaning work was going on every day and 420 metric tons of garbage was being collected every day, but still a huge amount of garbage is present everywhere. For this, the entire corporation area has been divided into 7 zones and 1700 employees have been deployed on this work. Out of these, 1000 workers have been taken from outsourcing.
