Prayagraj, 09 November (HS). The biggest attraction of public faith in Maha Kumbh is the 13 Akharas of Hindu Sanatan Dharma coming here and their royal bath. Gradually, changes are taking place in these Akharas of Sanatan Dharma which are moving forward by following the religious tradition. The agenda of environmental protection has been included in the Akharas propagating Hindu Sanatan Dharma in Maha Kumbh. The inspiration of the state's Yogi government's vision related to the Kumbh event has played a role in the transformation of the Akharas.
-Environmental protection agenda included in the agenda of Akharas
Yogi government has resolved to organize Maha Kumbh as plastic free and green Kumbh. On one hand, the Kumbh Mela administration is making continuous efforts for this, while on the other hand, along with the propagation of Sanatan Dharma, the agenda of environmental protection has also been included in the agenda of the Akharas and saints. Environmental protection was also a point in the resolution passed in the Akhara Council meeting held on October 5 at the headquarters of Niranjani Akhara in Prayagraj.
Akhara Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri says that if there is nature then there are humans. Therefore, the topic of environmental protection is important to preserve nature. This time in Maha Kumbh, the saints of Akharas will also make people aware about this. Apart from this, an appeal has been made to the saints and devotees to promote Dona Pattal and earthen utensils instead of plastic and thermocol utensils and a plan is being made for this.
-Implementation of the policy of giving place to deprived and Dalit saints in Akharas.
The existence of 13 Akharas came into existence from the army that Adi Shankaracharya prepared for the protection of the nation and culture by collecting young youth from Brahmin and Kshatriya families equipped with intellectual and military spirit. According to their religious tradition, these Akharas of Sanatan Dharma have been planning their religious journey for a long time. Winds of change have been seen in the Akharas in the grand, divine and clean Kumbh organized by Yogi Government in 2019. In the Akharas, saints and saints coming from the deprived and Dalit sections of the society were also appointed to big positions in the Akharas.
First of all, Saint Kanhaiya Prabhu Nand Giri of Juna Akhara, who comes from Dalit community, was made Maha Mandleshwar of Juna Akhara in 2019. Taking this tradition forward, in this Maha Kumbh, this time more than 450 saints coming from deprived and Dalit communities will be given titles like Maha Mandaleshwar, Mahant and Mandaleshwar. Under the leadership of Juna Akhara's patron Mahant Hari Giri, 370 Dalit Mahamandaleshwar, Mandaleshwar, Mahant and Peethadhishwar are to be built in Juna Akhara this year, the list of which is ready.
Shri Mahant Durgadas of Shri Panchayati Akhara Udasin Nirvana tells that in his Akhara too, there are preparations to give higher position to the sadhus belonging to the deprived and Dalit community in this Mahakumbh. Mahant Jamuna Puri, Secretary of Shri Panchayati Akhara Maha Nirvani, says that behind this change in the Akharas, the inspiration behind the saint Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath is to honor the mahatmas coming from the deprived society and appoint them in the Akharas as per their merit. To preserve Sanatan Dharma, there is a need to connect the deprived not only in the country but across the world.
After retirement, mother power is getting priority in the Akharas.
Akharas are symbols of Shiva and Shakti. Maternal power has always been considered revered in the Akharas. Women power is also not behind anyone in hoisting the flag of Sanatan Dharma. In the Kumbh organized in Prayagraj in 2019, the echo of women empowerment in the country and the state was seen and a large number of women saints were honored with the post of Mahamandaleshwar and their pattabhishek was done.
Mahant Rajendra Das, Secretary of Nirmohi Ani Akhara, says that in the last Kumbh Mela, eight foreign women were made Mahants. Women power will be given a big responsibility in this Mahakumbh. So that Sanatan can be propagated in all four directions. This time, preparations are being made by various Akharas to make 53 women saints as Mahant and Maha Mandaleshwar.
