Yamunanagar, August 15 (HS). Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya hoisted the flag and took the salute of the parade at the 78th Independence Day celebrations held at Tejali Sports Complex here on Thursday.

Governor Dattatreya said that it is a very fortunate day for him that he got the opportunity to hoist the flag in Yamunanagar on the banks of Yamuna, where the land is known as Kapal Mochan, the land that destroys all sins. The pottery industry here is famous all over the world. The first spark of freedom was ignited in Ambala on 10 May 1857, which gradually took the form of a rebellion.

Dattatreya said that the Har Ghar Tiranga program is going on in the entire country, due to which the entire nation is painted in the color of patriotism. It was on this day that the British left India due to the sacrifice of the sons of Mother India. The Governor also paid tribute to the brave sons who sacrificed their lives to maintain the independence and unity and integrity of the country.

ASP Dr. Rajesh Mohan led the march past on Independence Day. In the march past, the first contingent of police was led by Sub Inspector Santosh, the women police contingent was led by PSI Ruchi, the third police contingent was led by PSI Ajay, the fourth police contingent was led by ASI Vijendra, the fifth police contingent was led by PSI Gaurav Kumar, Haryana Home Guard contingent was led by SI Ramesh Kumar, NCC girls contingent was led by Sergeant Under Officer Sakshi, Scout contingent was led by Abhishek Pal, Guide contingent was led by Kumari Payal and Prajatantra Ke Prahari contingent was led by Kumari Hansika.

On this occasion, the Governor also honoured people who made notable contributions in various fields. School and college students presented cultural programmes. Police, Home Guards and other jawans gave their presentations.
