New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Limited – DIAL – has launched a new Self Drop Baggage Machine system at Delhi Airport. Using this new service, passengers can drop their luggage, get a baggage tag and print their boarding pass in just 30 seconds. Delhi has become the first airport in India to provide this type of service. The first such service in the world was started at Toronto Airport in Canada. India has become the second country in the world to start this service.
This service is currently available for Air India Express, Air India and IndiGo passengers. It usually takes about a minute to unload luggage at the airport.
Almost all the 50 Self Service Bag Drop – SSBD – units in Terminal One and Terminal 3 have been operationalised by the airport.
The new service involves the process of printing boarding pass from the check-in desk and getting baggage tag at the Common Use Self Service –CUSS – kiosk.
After reaching the baggage drop unit, passengers will have to scan their boarding passes and place their bags on the conveyor belt.
A self-service bag drop unit has been created to modernise this process.
This process does not require a boarding pass or biometric verification. This new check-in process now takes only 30 seconds instead of a minute.
How does the new self-service bag drop system work?
, Passengers will need to attach their tag to their bags at the CUSS kiosk at the airport.
, The bags are then placed on the conveyor belt of the self baggage drop.
, After this, with one click the airline app opens on the SSBD machine.
, Tourists have to tick the self-declaration form on this application.
, Then the goods are checked on all parameters by the system.
