In Korba, on 17 July, the 10th day of Muharram, people of Muslim community celebrated the festival of Muharram with faith and harmony in the memory of Karbala, remembering the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Islam Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. This festival is a symbol of victory of good over evil. On this occasion, people of Muslim community set up stalls of langar, sherbet and cold drinks in suburban areas including Korba city and

Tazias were taken out from sub-urban areas including Korba.

In Korba district, the tradition of taking out Tazia processions has been going on for the past 50 years. In this series, on the occasion of Muharram, Tazia processions were taken out from Tulsi Nagar, Purani Basti, Kashi Nagar, Budhwari, Dhanuhar Para Mudhapar as per the faith and in the evening all the Tazias gathered at the old bus stand in Korba. A large number of people from the Muslim community as well as other religions took darshan of the Tazia with faith. And traditional wishes were made. Along with this, the lovers of Hussain made wishes by crossing under the Tazia.

On this occasion, tight police arrangements were made. A huge crowd had gathered in front of Geetanjali Bhawan at the old bus stand to see the Taziya and make wishes.
