New Delhi: The Indian Navy on Wednesday inducted the first squadron of multi-role helicopter MH 60R Seahawk received from America into its fleet. He was commissioned on INS Garuda at a ceremony held in Kochi in the presence of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar.
Navy's combat capability will increase
These helicopters are equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensors and other facilities. Their inclusion in the fleet will significantly increase the combat capability of the Navy. The inclusion of these Seahawk helicopters in the fleet is being considered a major step towards the modernization of the Navy.
India signed an agreement with the US in 2020
Let us tell you that India had signed an agreement to buy MH-60R helicopter from America in February 2020. Under this, 24 MH 60R Seahawk helicopters are to be purchased at a cost of $ 2.6 billion. The helicopters purchased by the US will replace the British-made Sea King helicopters used by the Navy.
This helicopter is equipped with modern missiles
These advanced helicopters are equipped with multi-mode radar, Hellfire missiles, night vision equipment, MK 54 torpedoes and rockets that are capable of destroying enemy submarines in the blink of an eye. These helicopters are capable of both submarine and surface warfare, search and rescue operations and medical emergencies.
