Gorakhpur, 6 September (HS). The dream of patriotism and national pride that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had cherished since his parliamentary tenure has now been fully realised in the form of Sainik School. Spread over an area of 49 acres at a cost of Rs 176 crore in the fertilizer factory complex of Gorakhpur, this reality has become a golden chapter in the achievements of Gorakhpur. The Sainik School built in Gorakhpur with the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the first Sainik School in eastern Uttar Pradesh and the second Sainik School run by the Uttar Pradesh Sainik School Society. Its formal inauguration will be done by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar under the hosting of Chief Minister Yogi at 10:30 am on Saturday. On this occasion, tremendous preparations have been made under the supervision of the Chief Minister to welcome the Vice President.
The establishment of Sainik School in Gorakhpur has been the dream project of Chief Minister Yogi. He laid its foundation stone on 23 July 2021. With the motto of 'Education to the youth, protection of the country', this educational project has a provision to provide education to boys and girls from class 6 to 12 under residential arrangement. After taking admission in class 6 and 9 through entrance examination, studies have started in this Sainik School from July 1. In the first phase, 84-84 students have been admitted in class 6 and 9 in this school. There are a total of 40 girl students and 128 boys. There are separate campuses for boys and girls here. The administrative building of the school gives a glimpse of ancient Indian culture and tradition. Many sports courts and grounds have also been developed for the sports activities of the students of Sainik School.

The Sainik School of Gorakhpur is very close to the heart of Chief Minister Yogi. Even after laying its foundation stone, he has come several times to physically inspect its construction work. By gifting Sainik School, he has provided a strong platform to the meritorious students of eastern Uttar Pradesh to join the military services. The aim of Sainik School is to develop the students in all aspects and prepare them for the National Defence Academy (NDA) for selection in the officer cadre of the Indian Armed Forces. This school, which has a different concept from normal schools, specifically assesses the intellectual ability of the children as well as their physical, mental and medical ability in the selection process. Its entire pattern is based on military-oriented education. The timetable of Sainik School is in accordance with the training given in the army.
The second school of the state established under UP Sainik School Society
Sainik School Gorakhpur is the second school to be established under UP Sainik School Society. It has facilities of 20 classrooms, 4 labs, hostel, dining hall, multipurpose hall, conference hall, 1014 seated auditorium, yoga center, indoor shooting range, indoor swimming pool and CSD canteen. The total admitted students in this Sainik School have been placed in four houses (hostels). These houses have been named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Pandit Ramprasad Bismil, Shaheed Bandhu Singh and Rani Lakshmibai. Food arrangements for the students have been made in Annapurna Bhawan. Basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, badminton courts have been built in the campus for sports activities.
