As India celebrates its 77th Republic Day, actress Seerat Kapoor is remembering her family roots and the military legacy that deeply influenced her upbringing. For Seerat, Republic Day is not just a national festival, but a reminder of the discipline, respect and service that has been practiced in her family for generations.

Very few people know that Seerat Kapoor comes from an army background. Both his grandfathers and his siblings have served in the Indian Armed Forces. His family has been associated with both the Army and the Air Force. Seerat calls it “a shared responsibility based on duty and honesty”.

Seerat’s maternal grandfather, late Brigadier Trishan Singh, started his career as a pilot in the Army Air Observation Post (Air OP). He later headed ordnance factories and also served the country as a Small Arms Inspector. Meanwhile, Sirat’s grandfather was a colonel in the Indian Army.

Talking about the values she inherited from her family, Seerat says,
“I come from a family where serving the country was not just a job, but a responsibility. The devotion to duty of my grandfather and his brothers shaped the atmosphere of our home. From them I learned that leadership means responsibility, true bravery is quiet and true dignity is seen when no one is there to see.”

Seerat credits her grandparents for teaching her discipline, humility, punctuality and a sense of service to a cause greater than herself. He says that these values still guide him in his personal and professional life.

She says,
“These lessons help me in my work, in dealing with people, and in making decisions in difficult times. His legacy reminds me that character is built on small everyday decisions.”

This Republic Day, Seerat Kapoor remembers her grandparents with reverence and gratitude. Best wishes to everyone on 77th Republic Day.
