The indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arighat has been inducted into the Indian Navy. It has been inducted into the Strategic Forces Command. It has many new upgrades. This Indian Navy submarine, powered by nuclear fuel and equipped with nuclear ballistic missiles, is a state-of-the-art SSBN of the Arihant class.
Manufactured at Shipbuilding Centre in Visakhapatnam
It has been built at the Shipbuilding Center in Visakhapatnam. Its displacement is 6000 tons. The length is about 113 meters. The beam is 11 meters and the draft is 9.5 meters. It can go to a depth of 980 to 1400 feet inside the water. The range is unlimited. This means that if there is food supply and protection, it can stay in the sea for an unlimited time.
'INS Arighat' ready to protect India's maritime borders
The country's second nuclear submarine 'INS Arighat' is fully prepared to protect India's maritime borders. This is India's second indigenous nuclear submarine but 'Arighat' is more advanced than its class Arihant in many respects. At the same time, the Indian Army's third nuclear submarine 'INS Aridam' is also under construction. After its construction, India's war fleet will include 16 diesel (SSK) conventional submarines and three nuclear submarines (SSBN).
Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) launched
It is worth noting that earlier the SSN i.e. nuclear power submarine owned by India was returned to Russia in the year 2022 after the completion of ten years lease. In 2004, India launched Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) for the construction of four SSBN submarines. The fourth submarine of this project is also under construction.
