Gadkari gave information
Regarding this, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that his ministry will issue road contracts worth Rs 3 lakh crore in three months. He said that in the current financial year, the ministry has spent a total of Rs 200 crore. Contracts worth Rs 5 lakh crore will be issued. Addressing a program, Gadkari said that due to the Lok Sabha elections and the model code of conduct, the pace of delivery of road projects was slow in the initial months of the current financial year and now is the time to speed it up.
This is the government's target for 2025
He said that I assure you that within three months we will get Rs. 3 lakh crore (road) contracts and by March 2025 our target is to give (road) contracts worth more than Rs. 5 lakh crore. Gadkari said that the ministry has many road projects in the pipeline and raising funds for these projects will not be a problem as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has a very good reputation in the capital market.
The minister said that the current toll revenue of NHAI is Rs. 45,000 crore and in the next two years it will increase to Rs. 1.4 lakh crore. Gadkari said that we are monetizing road assets, from which we are getting money. So there is no problem of resources.
