Mumbai: The country's exports are expected to increase by 27 percent to 18 lakh bales in the crop year 2023-24, ending at the end of September. Cotton Association of India (CAI) sources said the country's exports in the crop year 2022-23 (October to September) were worth Rs 22 lakh a bale.
Indian rupee prices were quoted at 8 to 10 per cent lower than international prices in the period December, 2023 to March, 2024, resulting in increased demand for the Indian rupee.
India's cotton is exported to countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and China. In the April estimate for the 2023-24 season, CAIA has estimated the production figure to be Rs 309.70 lakh.
Last season, the country's production was Rs 318.90 lakh bales.
