Jaipur/Banswara, 4 October (HS). President Draupadi Murmu has said that a national goal has been set to end the mentality of slavery in our country. People of tribal society have always been free from the mentality of slavery. He said that in the last few years, a new consciousness has spread across the country regarding tribal pride.
President Murmu was addressing the 'Adi Gaurav Samman' ceremony organized at Mangarh Dham in Banswara on Friday. He said that on November 17, 1913, the British had brutally murdered more than 1500 brave men of the Bhil community in Mangarh Dham. He said that the people of the entire country, especially the youth, should be aware of the stories of bravery of this glorious sacrifice. On this occasion, he also mentioned the song of Bhil community associated with the Mangarh movement…Bhuretiya, Nai Maanu Re Nai Maanu…. On this occasion, the President congratulated all the people who received 'Adi Gaurav Samman' and expressed happiness that the number of women was more among those who received the honour. He said that the development of women is the mirror of the development of any society. Therefore, this tribal society is a matter of pride for Rajasthan and the entire country. This felicitation ceremony is a testimony to the multifaceted potential of the tribal society and the invaluable contribution they have made in various fields.
The President said that it is a matter of great happiness that the sons and daughters of the tribal community of Rajasthan are making the country proud in national and international sports competitions. He praised all the players of Rajasthan including Sunita Meena, a tribal daughter of Rajasthan, who was elected captain of the country's lacrosse team and appreciated their excellent performance. Referring to the recently launched Dharti Aaba Tribal Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, the President said that it aims to benefit more than five crore people of the tribal community. He expressed confidence that this campaign will become a powerful medium to enhance the pride of the tribal society. He also thanked Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for his activism in many fields for the welfare and development of deprived sections including tribal communities, farmers and women.
President Murmu expressed happiness to note that a large number of tribal students are benefiting from educational initiatives like 'Eklavya Model Residential School', Adarsh Vidyalaya, Ashram Hostels and Sports Hostels. He urged everyone to provide better education opportunities to their children and encourage them. While sharing the memories of his student life, he said that if hostel facilities had not been available then perhaps further studies would have been difficult or it might have even been interrupted. Today I am standing in front of you only on the strength of education.”
In the program, Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde said that the tribal community has been connected with the roots of Indian culture since the beginning. There is a tradition of saving nature in this community. We should take inspiration from this tradition of tribals and conserve nature. Bagde said that former Prime Minister Late. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, recognizing the important role of tribes in the Indian community, established a separate Ministry of Tribal Welfare for the first time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also committed to the welfare of the tribes.
The Governor said that today in the 'Adi Gaurav Samman Samaroh', individuals and institutions were honored for their excellent work in various fields including sports, education, technology. Which is a commendable step by the state government.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that Mangarh Dham, the pilgrimage site of the tribal community, is a historical heritage for the whole of India. Here, under the leadership of Govind Guru Ji, the tribal community presented a unique example of courage and sacrifice by fighting against injustice. He said that tribals have made a special contribution in enriching the culture of the country. The Chief Minister said that our government is committed to the welfare of the tribal community. Mangarh Dham is being developed as a major religious and tourist destination.
Sharma said that the state government had decided to give Adi Gaurav Samman for the first time. Under which today the individuals and institutions who have done excellent work in the development of the tribal area are being honored. The Chief Minister announced Rs 5 crore for the development of Mangadh Dhuni area. Besides, also announced opening of police post in Mangarh Dham.
In the programme, various individuals and organizations were honored with Adi Ratna Gaurav Samman, Adi Seva Gaurav Samman and Adi Grammotthan Gaurav Samman for their remarkable work in the development of tribal areas. The President distributed a check of Rs 158 crore to Rajivika Sakhis of women self-help group. On this occasion, DBT transfer of grant amount for farm pond, pipeline, agricultural equipment, fencing and incentive amount to the girl students studying in the Faculty of Agriculture was done by the Agriculture Department. Under this, an amount of Rs 63 crore was transferred to about 20 thousand 221 beneficiaries. Before this, the President visited the exhibition of products manufactured by tribal communities and the President, Governor and Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the memorial site located at Mangarh Dham. On this occasion, Tribal Areas Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Revenue Minister Hemant Meena along with local public representatives, officials and a large number of common people were present.
