Raipur, 20 September (HS). Former MLA Vikas Upadhyay has issued a statement on Friday and questioned the government's action on the lakhs of books found in the junk under the book scam, in which the General Manager of the Textbook Corporation, Prem Prakash Sharma, has been suspended. Vikas Upadhyay had already expressed doubts on the committee formed by the government to investigate the book scam case and had raised questions on the inclusion of tainted officials in this committee. Now those questions have been proved right. Three members of the committee are involved in corruption, out of which the government has today taken action against one member, General Manager of Textbook Corporation, Prem Prakash, and has confirmed the allegations made by Vikas Upadhyay.
Vikas Upadhyay said that in this entire case, the investigation committee itself is suspicious and the government is busy trying to clean its face by whitewashing in the name of investigation. Whereas the entire matter is clear that the books recovered from Siliyari paper mill tell the story of complete corruption. In this case, the collusion of the district education officer and cluster in-charges is clear, who did not distribute the books and sold the books as waste. This is the biggest book scam of the state. This entire corruption is related to cheating the government and earning commission by printing extra and large quantity of books. Now, after the Congress exposed this matter, the government woke up and started hushing up the entire matter, that is why action has been taken against the General Manager of the Text Book Corporation, whereas this entire corruption is linked to each other.
Vikas Upadhyay said that the books received from seven different districts were sold as junk. First of all, action should be taken against the District Education Officers of these seven districts. If this is the condition in a big city like Raipur, then one can imagine what the situation would be in rural areas and tribal areas. The Congress Party raises serious questions on this negligence and corruption of the Sai Government and demands immediate action on this. Upadhyay said that the Sai Government is not able to understand what action should be taken on this entire corruption and against whom. Because earlier the way a five-member team is formed by the government for this incident, General Manager Prem Prakash Sharma is also included in it and now action is taken against him and he is suspended. Upadhyay said that the fight against this corruption will be fought from the road, the House to the court and this fight will continue until the real culprit is punished.
