Katihar, September 11 (HS). The condition of Anganwadi centers in Barsoi block of the district is worrisome. On Wednesday, during a surprise inspection by Barsoi Block Development Officer Hariom Sharan, two centers were found closed, while in one center there was no presence of children and nutritious food was not prepared.
Anganwadi centers running only on paper! :-
Anganwadi centres are not being run properly due to Barsoi Child Development Project Officer Babita Kumari being in charge of two blocks. 100% of Anganwadi children, local lactating women and young girls are not able to avail the benefits of government schemes.
Pregnant and lactating women also need nutritious food! :-
The main objective of the Anganwadi Beneficiary Scheme of the Government of Bihar is to take care of the nutrition and health of children between 1 and 6 years of age, including pregnant and lactating women. Through this scheme, the government provides cooked food and dry ration items so that women and children of poor families can get a complete diet.

There is a need to improve the condition of Anganwadi centres. The government should make maximum efforts to run Anganwadi centres so that Anganwadi children, lactating women and young girls can get 100 percent benefit.
