Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has clarified its official position on the ongoing controversy over serious allegations of sexual exploitation and conversion in Nashik, Maharashtra. Company CEO K. Kritivasan issued a detailed statement saying that the company is taking these allegations very seriously and several independent experts have been appointed for an impartial investigation.

1. Help of Deloitte and Trilegal for independent investigation

TCS has engaged external experts to ensure transparency in this matter. The company has appointed global audit firm Deloitte and leading law firm Trilegal as independent legal advisors. This step has been taken so that the internal investigation remains free from any kind of influence.

2. Formation of high level monitoring committee

A special committee has been formed to oversee the investigation, headed by TCS independent director Keki Mistry.

Leadership: The internal investigation is being led by TCS President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Aarti Subramaniam.

Function: This committee will review the findings of the investigation and make recommendations on strict future measures.

3. Clarification on facts regarding Nida Khan

Amidst the news going on in the media and social media, TCS has given clarification on the role of Nida Khan. The company has clarified that:

She was not an HR manager nor did she have any responsibility for recruitment.

She was only a ‘Process Associate’ and did not hold any kind of leadership position.

4. News of closure of Nashik unit ‘incorrect’

TCS has also denied rumors that the Nashik unit has been closed. The company clarified that the Nashik unit is fully operational and all services provided to customers are continuing as normal. The company has requested the media not to spread such misleading information without verifying the facts.

5. No complaints so far in POSH and Ethics channel

The company has also kept an important fact that as per their initial review, no formal complaint related to this matter has been filed yet in POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) or Ethics Channel. However, given the seriousness of the allegations, the company will continue its detailed investigation and is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

TCS’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy

TCS reiterated in its statement that the company adheres to the highest standards of employee safety and respect. The company has clearly stated that it has a zero tolerance policy against any form of harassment or coercion and strict action will be taken based on the results of the investigation.
