Bijapur, July 18 (HS). District Collector Anurag Pandey has presented the proposal of the rail corridor to Minister Kedar Kashyap and MP Mahesh Kashyap.
Considering the conditions of the district, this proposal of the collector is being termed as historic. Along with this, collector Anurag Pandey requested for a technical survey to increase the area of irrigation and lift irrigation in all the four blocks, to which minister Kedar Kashyap agreed and said that the government is ready to take all measures for the development of Bastar.
In the district level review meeting, the collector has also presented the proposal of an ambitious rail corridor project for the district for perusal. Collector Anurag Pandey said that 126 km from Geedam to Bhopalpatnam, 110 km from Bhopalpatnam to Sironcha, a total of 236 km rail corridor will provide connectivity to Bijapur with Chennai, Nagpur, Delhi main trunk line. This will greatly facilitate the transportation of iron ore of Nagarnar, HRC, Strip and NMDC and will also reduce the cost. The rail corridor will also reduce the pressure on the road. With the proposed railway line, development opportunities will increase in the area and the district will progress gradually.
