Dehradun, July 30 (HS). State Public Works Minister Satpal Maharaj has given instructions to connect the work of the city roads with the Rs. 1400 crore outer ring road in a planned manner.
Minister Satpal Maharaj gave instructions on Tuesday at a meeting with officials of National Highway, Public Works Department at his camp office at Subhash Road regarding road construction in Uttarakhand, major projects of National Highway, Chardham project, Kailash Mansarovar project, national highways of strategic importance in border areas, Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway, treatment work of landslide areas in national highways, works under Central Road Infrastructure Fund, bridge bonding.
Minister Satpal said that the work of connecting the city roads to the Outer Ring Road being built at a cost of Rs 1400 crore in Dehradun, funded by ADB, should be done in a planned manner and promptly, because there is also a provision for running electric buses in it.
The Public Works Minister told the officials of PWD and Smart City that the roads in the city are above and the drains are below due to which traffic is often obstructed. He instructed the officials to inspect all the places and remove the deficiencies immediately.
In the meeting, he also directed the officials to construct alternative routes along with national highways, such as Ghansali to Ghutthu-Pawalikantha Trijuginarayan, Kalimath-Chaumasi via Sonprayag, local circuit road in Sonprayag. Along with this, it was asked to construct bridges with higher load bearing capacity in place of the old bridges located on national highways. In order to get rid of the traffic jam at Rishikesh, the gateway of Chardham Yatra, the PWD National Highway was asked to take action for the construction of Rishikesh bypass.
The PWD Minister also directed to take action for the construction of Ojri tunnel on the Yamunotri road so that the journey to Yamunotri Dham can be made easy. Officials of the Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India informed that the high level committee has given its approval for the construction of Agastyamuni bypass, Kund bypass from Paligadh in Yamunotri National Highway, Agastyamuni bypass in Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway and similarly the Over Sight Committee has given its consent for the construction of Rishikesh bypass, Champawat bypass. Now by constructing these routes, the movement of vehicles will be smooth till Chardham and China border. Instructions were also given to install crash barriers in the remaining parts under road safety in national highways.
PWD Department Head D.K.Yadav, Chief Engineer, Road Transport, Government of India D.K.Sharma, Regional Officer, National Highways of India, Chief Engineer, National Highways, Dayanand, Vishal Gupta, Smart City Officer Anil Pangati, Superintending Engineer Girish Pundir, Praveen Kush etc. were present in the meeting.
