The census pattern in the country will change in Census 2025.

New Delhi: The census to be held every 10 years after 2011 was to be held in 2021, but it could not happen due to the Corona epidemic. Now there are reports that the Central Government is preparing to conduct the census next year i.e. in the year 2025. The census process starting next year may continue till 2026. After which census will be conducted again in the year 2035.

After the completion of the census, the government can delimit the Lok Sabha seats. The demarcation process is likely to be completed by 2028. The opposition is demanding a caste-based census, but the central government has not yet taken any decision on the caste-based census. Following this, census can be conducted as per the previous method. Presently religion, class is asked along with calculation of SC, ST and General category. However, this time people can also be asked which religion they follow. For example, in Karnataka, the Lingayat community, which comes from the general category, considers itself a separate sect. Therefore, the government is considering including religion, caste as well as sect in it.

Nowadays the use of internet has increased, hence digital method will be adopted in the census. The government can also announce a special portal for this. A list of total 31 questions to be asked to the people is being prepared. When will the census figures be declared in the year 2026? Amidst the possibility that the government will start the census next year itself, the opposition has demanded an all-party meeting. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has posted on Twitter whether the government will conduct census of all castes? If delimitation is done, will it not be injustice to those states which have been successful in keeping population growth under control? The government should call an all-party meeting to discuss this issue. Many states and political parties in South India have claimed that they have been successful in controlling population growth. If the government delimits Lok Sabha seats on the basis of population, the representation of South Indian states in the Lok Sabha will reduce. Among the questions asked is whether the head of the household is a woman? Be it mobile-smartphone, bicycle, scooter, moped, car or jeep or van? How many rooms are there in the house, how many married people are there in the house, kitchen, LPG-PNG connection, water, radio, TV etc. can also be asked. The first census in independent India was conducted in 1951 and the last census was conducted in 2011.
