Mohammed Shami: Fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who was out of the Indian team due to injury after the ODI World Cup, is expected to return soon. Shami may return to the team for the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh starting in Chennai from September 19.

Shami was the highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023, taking 24 wickets in just seven matches. After the World Cup, Shami had to stay away from cricket due to an injury in his right heel. Due to which he also had to undergo surgery in the same year 2024. He has been away from cricket for several months.

Shami is recovering well from his injury. According to a report, Shami is currently in the final stages of his comeback at the NCA and has started bowling only last month. The report states that after getting fit, Shami has gradually increased his bowling workload.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had said in a press conference before leaving for the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka earlier this month that Shami has started bowling. His aim is to play the first Test match for India against Bangladesh starting in Chennai from September 19 so that he can make an international comeback.
