Aadhaar new rules 2025: In the year 2025, there have been many big changes regarding Aadhaar Card, which will have a direct impact on you and all of us. UIDAI, the Aadhaar card making organization, has implemented many new rules, from increasing fees to online updates. So let us know what changed, what became costly and where relief was found.

First shock: Now you will have to loosen your pockets more

Making any kind of update in Aadhaar card has become expensive from October 1, 2025.

  • Changing name, address, mobile number: The work which was earlier done for ₹ 50, will now have to be paid for ₹ 75.
  • Photo, Fingerprint Update: Biometric update will now cost ₹125 instead of ₹100.
This increased fee will remain in effect till 2028.

Relief news: Children’s biometrics updated absolutely free!

There is also a big good news amidst the expensive fees. UIDAI has made biometric update (photo, fingerprint and iris scan) absolutely free for children aged 7 to 15 years. The government believes that there are a lot of changes in the face and fingerprints of children at this age, so this update should be necessary and free.

Second blow: The era of free online updates is over

You might remember that for some time the government had made the facility of online document updating absolutely free. But this free service has now ended. Now, whether online or offline, you will have to pay the new increased fee for every type of update.

The biggest digital update is coming soon (applicable from November 1!)

Now let’s talk about the biggest change. From November 1, 2025, UIDAI is preparing to introduce a system through which you will be able to change many things in your Aadhaar while sitting at home.

  • What will you be able to change online: You will be able to update your name, address, date of birth, gender and mobile number from home. For this now you will not have to visit the Aadhar Seva Kendra.
  • How will this be possible? The new system will automatically verify your identity digitally from the government database. You will not need to upload any document.
  • What will not change online? For biometric updates like your photo, fingerprint and iris scan, you will have to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra like before.
